Natalie and her six-year-old daughter Eve are making running a family affair, taking on various races to help families living with eczema. This week, it’s Natalie’s turn, as she takes on the Cardiff Half for EOS.
Natalie and Eve – from Barry in South Wales – are putting their calons (Welsh for hearts) into it to help support other children like Natalie’s youngest, and Eve’s little brother, who lives with severe eczema.
Natalie knows how difficult it can be to watch your child struggle with itching and discomfort. Her own experience led her to EOS, where she found something she had been missing for years: understanding and support.
“I have been lucky enough to have had support via phone call and have found it so incredibly helpful. Just being listened to and someone who understands. It’s the first time I really felt heard in 3 years.”
The books and other support tools from EOS have also made a real difference to their family.
Now, Natalie is fundraising so other families can experience that same support.
And she isn’t doing it alone.
Eve, who is in Year 2, loves to run and play with her dolls. She also wants to help her little brother, who lives with eczema.
“My brother has eczema and he is itchy all the time. I try to help him to feel better and try to help him stop scratching. Mummy and me are both running races to raise money to help families like ours.”
Together, Mum and daughter are showing that even small steps can make a big difference.
Natalie hopes her fundraising will help other families feel heard, supported and less alone.
“I feel so incredibly lucky to have found a service for families like ours. It’s really made a difference. Thanks EOS!”
