In 2027, Jennifer will take on the iconic London Marathon to raise money and awareness for families living with eczema, inspired by her youngest daughter’s own experience with the condition.
Jennifer lives in Grangemouth, Scotland, with her husband and their two young daughters. When her youngest daughter developed eczema at around eight months old, Jennifer never expected it to become so severe.
“We’ve dealt with bleeding skin, infections and multiple steroid creams.”
Looking back, Jennifer finds it difficult to think about what her daughter went through at such a young age. She had grown up with mild eczema herself and initially assumed her daughter was simply experiencing dry skin that would improve with moisturiser.
As her daughter’s eczema worsened, Jennifer began to understand just how much the condition can affect everyday life.

“I don’t think many people realise how severe eczema can be or the impact it has on everyday life. Even I underestimated it.”
For Jennifer, the unpredictability of eczema has been one of the hardest things to manage. When her daughter was very young, she couldn’t explain how she was feeling or understand why she shouldn’t scratch, leaving Jennifer feeling helpless.
EOS became an important source of support. After being recommended EOS by a local pharmacist, Jennifer accessed online information sessions and resources to help her navigate the challenges of managing her daughter’s eczema.

One moment that stands out was preparing for a family holiday when her daughter was just 15 months old. Jennifer had questions about everything from sun cream and chlorine to heat, UV exposure and managing treatment abroad.
Having reliable information and the experiences of other families helped give her reassurance when she needed it.
“I hope my fundraising will help provide support and resources that improves the lives of children and families living with eczema and ensuring they know they are not alone.”
Jennifer is also keen to help other families see that things can improve, even when the journey feels overwhelming.
“My daughters skin is in a much better place than it has been and I feel like it gives me hope (and hopefully others) that things can improve, even if it takes time!”

Now, as Jennifer prepares for the London Marathon, she hopes to use her fundraising journey to raise awareness of EOS and the support available to families affected by eczema.
We’re incredibly grateful to Jennifer for taking on this challenge and sharing her family’s story. Her determination to help other families feel supported makes her a true EOS Fundraising Star! ⭐
