EOS has teamed up with magical children’s illustrator Clare Elsom to bring you a special story of one child’s wish this Christmas.
You can read it here or follow along on our socials to hear it brought to life by the voices of some incredible children we know who have eczema – thank you Hugo, Holly, Eva, Rachel, Benji and Lily!
Our High 5 Club gives children with eczema a safe, fun space to meet others who ‘get it’, make friends, build confidence, and realise they’re not alone. Your support today could change a child with eczema’s life – a gift of £8 could pay for them to attend one High 5 Club session, while a monthly gift of £8 could help them attend High 5 Club sessions all year!
You can help a child with eczema find friendship this Christmas – donate today.
It’s the night before Christmas, and I should be in bed,
But I’m watching the window for glimpses of red.
For once, it’s not eczema that’s broken my sleep,
I have to see Santa, this question won’t keep.
For me, it’s not weird, to be up half the night,
With eczema I’m itching and scratching ‘til light.
I know Santa can’t fix it: it won’t just go away,
I have to manage it, Every Single Day,
But at Christmas it’s harder, there’s so much I can’t do,
Can’t play all the games, can’t eat half the food.
Can’t wear Christmas jumpers, they might cause a flare.
Cosy up near the fire? I just wouldn’t dare.
But that’s ok, I manage, and I’ve been really good,
Put on all my creams, like Mum says I should,
I hope Santa will listen and get what I lack,
Though I don’t really know how it’ll fit in his sack.
You see, eczema’s not infectious, not something you catch,
I just wish someone would tell all the other kids that.
They say that I’m weird, and they all stay away,
If I try to join in, they say I can’t play.
But Santa, he’s magic. He’ll understand.
He’ll never flinch when I hold out my hand,
Once I’ve seen him and told him, he’ll know what to send,
‘Cause for Christmas this year, all I want is a friend.
